I'm in the dark about why you'd pass on a kinda cool and unintentionally collaborative study in the main post, then post a link to a page for someone who's obviously not in touch with reality.

The original post refers to a cool study, where an independent study of elephant seals is used to interpret data on how changes in local conditions (AKA "weather") affect things. Not that local weather has ANYTHING to do with anthropogenic climate change, WHICH IS HAPPENING NOW.

Have you made up your mind and are now unpersuadable that man may be able to do things that will ensure further survival of species, or make decisions that will doom them? Does man not affect the environment?

In spite of Karlson's statements to the contrary, it's not "arrogant" to grasp the reality that man has an influence on our environment, it's dealing with reality. Facts don't have a liberal/conservative/Democratic/Repulipig bias.

Dumping CO2 into the atmosphere affects it. Period. Even if the effect is ONLY "we're increasing the CO2 in the atmosphere", it's an effect. That's not "arrogance", it's "accepting reality", and I'd happily challenge any self-described "scientist" to prove otherwise, and call him a hack when he fails.

I applaud your efforts to reduce your footprint, although I wonder about your motives. How can you call the earth "sacred" and then defend others shitting all over her with whatever perceived "need" they claim a right to?

Not burning shit to power our lives has benefits.

No more wars in the ME, for example. "I don't need to burn your (Saudis) shit to survive" is a power statement.

Not changing the 90 mile thick atmosphere is another. Even if you don't believe in global climate change, someone who "worships the mother earth" should understand it's HER decision, not ours.

I'm truly puzzled by your stubbornness. Is it related to past attacks on other boards? I never mean to attack, I mean to educate. We ARE changing the climate. It's true that it's changed in the past on it's own. That does NOT negate the possibility that we change it, now. It's not zero sum.

We need to wean ourselves off burning shit. There are lots of benefits, and no downside, except for the oil companies and people who own oil wells.

I am just starting to listen to an hour talk of this fella:
http://www.naturalclimatechange.us/

Eric Karlson.

To the labelists: I don't know if he is a GOP mouthpiece or is just labeled as such by the Nameless Green Movement.

Now you know I garden, am seriously earth-loving, walk barefoot so that I have frequent and sacred contact with the beloved earth, have alternative sources of energy in this house, recycle, and am really interested in reducing pollution.

That is something. Now I have tried to find all the old science that most of the models are based on. The old studies are nowhere to be found. I have called Gore's company, asked nicely. They didn't respond. I have yet to see his movie, siting that I refuse to pay for a mind-set that isn't already formed within me.

Meanwhile, the sun flares, as we saw this week plus some days. However, it appears that the activity of the sun at it's solar max (max in 2013) is lower than we have seen in previous maxes, ... since the 80's anyway.
