Even Though

…”there’s absolutely no difference between the two parties”(TM-Ralph Nader), none, nada, zip, zilch, and the Democrats are just as much in the pockets of the wealthy and the corps as the Republicans, and if a Democrat does something we like it’s only because a broken clock is right twice a day…

Support the first Constitutional Amendment with broad support in the Senate, S.J.Res.29 – proposing an Amendment to the Constitution of the United States relating to contributions and expenditures intended to affect elections.

This Amendment was introduced by Sen. Tom Udall (D-NM) and has 22 co-sponsors. You can support it here.

That’s What I’m Talking About

‘Tea Party 10’ Targeted In Multimillion Dollar Campaign By Liberal Super PAC

WASHINGTON — A liberal super PAC is set Monday to launch what it is billing as a multimillion dollar campaign to “Take Down the Tea Party Ten.”

The effort by the progressive outfit CREDO aims to use the new big-spending super PAC model, which can accept unlimited donations, to back extensive local organizing and “education” aimed at defeating 10 members of Congress seen by the left as the worst of the worst.

“We’re talking about some of the most odious members of Congress. Even for Republicans these guys are low,” said Campaign Manager Matthew “Mudcat” Arnold in a statement.

Example of why moderate doesn’t work

At least when up against an extreme.

The corporate rw has a hard-on for a balanced budget. That’s neolib dogma, straight from the Austrian School, and a means to the end of drowning the government in a bathtub.

“Third way” politicos on both sides of the pond are letting the neolib extremists dictate policy by swallowing, without a fight, the “austerity” line. The “other” side frames, the purported progressives accept the bait, make it sound better by trying to spread the bitter pill of austerity around, begin negotiations from a compromised position, and find a lose-lose situation.

If, as is likely, austerity makes things worse, the extremists (that are holding the framing handle) will say “he/they didn’t go far enough with spending cuts”. If, by chance, austerity doesn’t send us into a double-dip, the extremists will say “he followed our suggestions. Of course, if he’d cut MORE we’d be better off”.

Third Way politicos are timeservers. They’ll do anything to get elected, and once elected they’ll do the bare minimum to keep their electorate on their side. No ideology, no plan, no defense of progressive values – just lip service to SOME progressive objectives, to be attained by neoliberal means.

It’s time for people to wake the fuck up.

Civics 101

I’m not trying to be snarky or condescending. Honestly. I’m not accusing anyone of not knowing how government works. I’m just putting this out there because I see so much rage directed toward the POTUS (when Bush was POTUS, too), that I want to be sure we’re all looking at the same rule book.

I’ll note that I complained about the GOP congress and rulings by fuckpukes like Scalia, Thomas, and Alito plenty of times when Bush was POTUS.

I’ll further state that, from where I’m sitting, I don’t see ANYONE posting here about how the Senate has been the most obstructionist in history, no doubt due to McConnell’s vow to “make Obama a one-term President”. From where I’m sitting I don’t see anyone bothering to point out or remember that Boehner could have passed plenty of bills through the House if he’d just accepted some Democratic votes, but he ALWAYS, 100% of the time, catered to the batshit crazy uncompromising “let it burn” wing in the teabagger wing.

Actually, as near as I can tell, there are only two kinds of posts being made here. “Obama is a fuckstick, oh, I just hate him so MUCH!”, and posts unrelated to politics. I may be being unkind. I’m sure there have been a few that were political and didn’t have anything to do with Obama at all, but they’re definitely a minority of the political posts.

So, a little bit of high school civics “below the fold”.

Domestic Use of Drones is Well Underway

Welcome to Nazi Germany of America.

Domestic Use of Drones is Well Underway
January 25th, 2012 by Steven Aftergood

The use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) within the United States is certain to increase in the years to come, as a new Army policy has recently made clear. (“Army Foresees Expanded Use of Drones in U.S. Airspace,” Secrecy News, January 19.) But in fact the use of unmanned aircraft or drones within U.S. airspace has already advanced to a degree that is not widely recognized.
