Wouldn’t it be nice?

Before I comment, I’m still thinking about the “Ideology” thread, not ignoring it or “mad” at anyone. OK, here goes…

Re: the first video. I didn’t like the Beach Boys when they were popular/active. I can’t really say why. Maybe I just liked the Beatles more? At any rate, I was as wrong about that as I was about returning to the gold standard. I’m one of the few people you know who has a copy of, or even knows of, “Smiley Smile“. Brian Wilson was a frickin’ genius, and the music is still fantastic, today. “Sloop John B” I love. Really, anything from “Pet Sounds”. If my wife and I have “a song”, it’s “God Only Knows“. We admit we’re co-dependent. We just don’t think it’s a bad thing.

Re: the second link. I really like the idea of capping the upper level of income at some multiple of the average. Fuck the “punishing success” crowd. No one’s so invaluable they’re worth $10,000/hr. No one. I’m not sure how the “average” should be calculated, or what the multiplier should be, but every penny above that could be collected as a tax.

We rebelled against living in a monarchy once before. In a land where capital money is king power, there should be a limit to how much money power you can hand to your kids. The Walton family aren’t “Sam’s kids”, they’re heirs who became dukes and duchesses. Then there’s Romneybot. He did NOTHING to deserve the life he has. I’m absolutely in favor of limiting how much someone can inherit without paying a “power tax” on it.
