Just so you know, I tweeted this to try out the new “share” button.

I tried Myspace and Facebook – and dropped both. I refuse to tweet – in the end one replaces a real life with a virtual one.

So — what’s the divide? Without doing research on all the places named — I’m not seeing what that division might be.
I know something about only two of those places — the two in Texas. The #1 on the list of most obese is an area in which the overwhelming majority of the population is Mexican-American. The other — #5 — is largely black and Mexican. Both areas are strongly Democratic.
I hope somebody out there isn’t piling on internal divisions within the American left by perhaps unwittingly doing things like ridiculing big ass black folks (for any lurker who doesn’t know — I’m black — so that intended as a snarky reference to stuff some other folks say about us). And I was LOL as I typed that. It would be a sad thing for Democratic/left leaning internet politics junkies from these places to find threads in Democratic forums in which thinner Democrats are having fun mocking thicker Democrats.
After all — while it’s true that Texas Democrats haven’t been much help to other Democrats in presidential elections or US senate seats in recent years — they do still manage to send some Democrats to the US house of representatives.

By and large, red=obese.
It was a lark of a post, no need to read anything between the lines.

I didn’t read between the lines. After that title it was pretty funny to click on the link and find the #1 most obese metro area on the list is a Democratic area. It was even funnier to spot the city I live in kinda high up on that list.
I’m pretty sure many folks who don”t know the areas saw Texas and thought “red.” But — both of those areas show up blue on political maps. Now — for the presidential race if you check by county — it’s red — but when you look within that county — my metro area is BLUE!
I looked up the other cities for the heck of it.
Binghamton — the mayor and all the councilmembers are Democrats
Huntington — the mayor is Republican — the council has 10 Democrats and 1 Republican.
Rockford — the mayor is Independent. Out of a total of 14 councilmembers — 7 are Democrats — 1 is an Indy who caucuses with Democrats –6 are Republican.
Reading didn’t list everybody’s party — but the mayor is a Democrat — and so is the president of the city council.
I knew you meant it to be funny — but — well — living in one of those cities and knowing that rather than being filled with fat white Republicans — it’s filled with fat black and hispanic Democrats — it was funny to me.
I’m only telling you this so that you don’t run with this — trying to tell this joke to Republicans — and have Republicans laughing at us all. You know they’ll act like every Democrat/lefty in the country tried to slam the GOP with a top 10 fatty list that had more Dems than Pubs in it.
As for my snarky remark — well — that was a jab at some of your “friends” — or your friends’ friends. I didn’t say you — I said I hope “somebody out there…” A long time ago I posted that there was stuff brewing that was getting very ugly. Well — it grew into some absolutely hell, no — I’ll die before i ever team up with you kinda stuff. Not — meaning YOU — but some of your friends’ friends. Some of the stuff they post would fit right in at Stormfront.
I said I was laughing as I typed. When I saw Mexicans heading the list and black folks holding a top spot — it made me think of those “real progressives” and some of the stupid stuff they say about us — while supposedly trying to plot strategies for “educating” us so we can follow them. LOL
I haven’t really talked about them in months. I don’t know if I feel good or bad about doing it, now.
Oh, well — good or bad — whenever I figure it out — either way the feeling won’t last long. So — doesn’t matter.

I was thinking more of the states than the towns. No big deal.
