When a “democracy” opens a department called “homeland” followed by “security”, you’re on the road to fatherland (which would have been used if it wasn’t for the Nazi precedent).
Democracy and fear do not mix.
I never understood the line “land of the free and home of the brave” as applied to the US. Few nations throughout history has been bigger cowards, willing to sell out ANYTHING because of a perceived or manufactured fear.

No, it can be excellent. You need good voters – and you need ideologies to both keep politicos kosher and to actually move towards social and political goals.

Need to take all the money out of politics and yes educated voters. There is a reason that education has taken a back seat, dumbing down the voters works well just look at the south.
George Carlin had it right. Hell if voting changed anything then it would be illegal.
