Police Power Rollback

Credit where credit is due.

The U.S. Department of Justice is coming down hard on the Baltimore Police Department as it prepares to issue a settlement to a man whose footage they deleted after he recorded them making an arrest.

    LOL

What a funny sentence to end with a smiley face.

“That’s one way to solve the problem of peace protest arrest the leaders and people wonder way OWS doesn’t have leaders.”

    Ouch! THAT’s a police state.

I remember something like this happening somewhere else. For some reason I think it was in Minneapolis. I’m not sure, any more.

I had added a lot more text to this post, but in a transitory moment of sanity, I deleted it.

I think it was the repug convention that they did the same thing.

It’s just seems to getting to the point of stupid.

OK, but Holder needs to go. How many bankers has he prosecuted?
In the S&L loan crisis, I read that somewhere around 4,000 people were prosecuted by the DOJ. What is wrong with Holder?

I see some insider trading prosecutions, but not nearly enough to remedy the Market crimes. And they will not stop dirivities from influencing the market, seriously altering free trade in the market.

And did the DOJ prosecute those oil speculators that drove up the price of gas? Anyone know?

I tell my son that he is to carry a camera with him everywhere he goes, so that he can capture things that need to be recorded. I personally carry a camera at all times, for the very reason of catching something on video that will keep cops honest, that will keep all public servants honest. My iPad can instantaneously engage audio recordings, tho I really don’t know the legalities of that. Would have to check about them before publishing.

IIRC, the S&L crisis was late 80′s. I think some laws were changed since then.

      Now, I’m curious.

Can you give me a link to the statute(s) that Holder would cite in prosecution?

Or do we need to get on Congress and make them pass those statutes (again?) so we can prosecute theiving bankers/gamblers next time?

Although I know the GOP is working like hell to make sure the latest finance reform statutes the Democrats passed can’t be acted upon, then complained when Obama made a recess appointment so there was someone to run the agency. So, when half of our government has zero respect for the law, maybe it’s a waste of time.
