Great time in Sorrento (Piano), Naples and Rome (with trips to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Capri)…
It seems we were better off under the emperors!
Great weather, food, wine, limoncello, and grappa.
Rome I know well, but this time was able to visit Trajan’s Market. I knew Pompeii but not the Villa di Misterii – and Ercolano was absolutely fantastic. Literally a snapshot of the say that Vesuvius erupted. Was able to watch a restorer clean up fantastic mosaics in situ…
The Capitoline Museum is always a rush for a history lover, and we coincided with a special expo of the Vatican Archives – including the actual papers on Galileo’s trial (etc.). The Museo Nazionale in Naples was fantastic as well.
I dunno how to post pics, but if anyone’s interested…
As a side note, my gf has “adopted” a Stewie Griffin doll. We have a small collection of “Stewie Does Italy” pics.
