NDAA Signed Into Law By Obama Despite Guantanamo Veto Threat, Indefinite Detention Provisions

“”President Obama has utterly failed the first test of his second term, even before inauguration day,” American Civil Liberties Union Executive Director Anthony Romero said in a statement. “His signature means indefinite detention without charge or trial, as well as the illegal military commissions, will be extended.””

  1. Here’s Obama’s signing statement, if you’re interested.

This really stood out, to me:

The Congress designed these sections, and has here renewed them once more, in order to foreclose my ability to shut down the Guantanamo Bay detention facility. I continue to believe that operating the facility weakens our national security by wasting resources, damaging our relationships with key allies, and strengthening our enemies.

  2. I’m sure they have US citizen’s best interest/safety in mind, I mean we all trust the govt. to do what’s right, right?

On another note on reading the signing statement if he didn’t like this many sections then why sign it until it was word correctly for the wh. Because us on Main Street don’t stand a chance

  3. Like I would believe Obama. He is a politician. He lies.
And when a GOP president gets in office, do you want him to have this kind of power?
    I think not.

Oh yes, of course, the Obama fAdministration loves it’s citizens. So much so that they want to know what we are doing every second of the day. We The People are the most “loved” and spied on citizenry in the world. I will be gawd dammed if I will pay more taxes so that their spying can go deeper into my PRIVATE life. Let them go over the cliff and then let’s fire all who are in DC, and rebuild following the long-forgotten, totally diminished, and most hallowed US Constitution.
He is not the savior you think he is. We are all the saviors we think he is.

When you use the Internet, you entrust your online conversations, thoughts, experiences, locations, photos, and more to companies like Google, AT&T and Facebook. But what happens when the government demands that these companies to hand over your private information? Will the company stand with you? Will it tell you that the government is looking for your data so that you can take steps to protect yourself?

DOJ Plans To Indict State-Sponsored Cyber Attackers
    Dec. 18, 2012 – 03:25PM |
    By ARAM ROSTON | Comments
In an intriguing push against the ever-increasing number of foreign-governments sponsored cyber attacks against U.S. companies, the U.S. Department of Justice intends to turn to its roots with an old-fashioned tactic that has worked against the mafia, drug traffickers and white collar crime: criminal prosecutions.

You just don’t get it, tim. You still have that viral memetic infection Obama gave you. I think it seriously works on your frontal cortex.

Why does everything have to be a personal attack with you?

Because I don’t share your bizarre, paranoid fantasies, there’s something wrong with ME?

I think you have a personality disorder. I’m not a psychiatrist/psychologist, but I don’t think I’m out of line suggesting that you seek professional help. You can’t possibly be happy with so many people out to get you.

  5. “we all trust the govt. to do what’s right, right?”

Approval of congress stands closer to 10% than 20%, so no.

“if he didn’t like this many sections then why sign it until it was word correctly for the wh”?

I don’t know if you watched the fiscal bluff negotiations, but I did.

No other NDAA would pass, and he didn’t want the families of 100’s of thousands of servicemen and servicewomen homeless and hungry.

Someone, I forget who but it may have been the reprehensible DiFi, put language into the bill to get rid of the possibility of indefinite detention. That language was pulled, in committee. No one knows who did it (I’d bet on Liberbush, if he was on the committee, which I don’t know for sure).

I understand how our government works. If I was POTUS, I’d have signed this bill, too. With a signing statement. Saying “and listen up, fuckers, we’re going to find ways to cut the military budget by 10% a year until it’s small enough to drown in a bathtub, because that’s what the founders wanted … no standing army!”

BTW, no gun regulations will pass.

You want to talk “originalist”, you’d better do it with anyone but me, you stupid teabbagger fucks.

Read Washington’s farewell address, you stupid fucking teabaggers.

“us on Main Street don’t stand a chance”

The John Birch Society has been defeated before, and we can do it, again.

But only if we understand that we can’t have everything we want “RIGHT FUCKING NOW, GODDAMMIT!!!!!”

“The green house is going to give me tomatoes in about one month should be just in time for the lettuce to be harvested.”

I missed this. Sorry. My mailing address is the same as the return address on the coffee you bought/I sent you. You can mail me some good tomatoes, you lucky fucker! 😉

  6. Regarding bizarre, paranoid complaint number 1, that Obama signed the NDAA?:

    What’s your solution?

Starving 100’s of thousands of military families?

Regarding bizarre, paranoid complaint number 2, you want anything you’ve ever posted on the internet protected from being used against you?:

Seriously, what’s your fucking problem? You didn’t know that everything you’ve ever posted is probably archived, somewhere?

Regarding your bizarre complaint #3 that “In intriguing push against the ever-increasing number of foreign-governments sponsored cyber attacks against U.S…prosecutions will increase”?

Seriously? You expect me to be paranoid because MY government is TRYING to protect us from CHINESE tracking/hacking, a REAL threat, I should believe that Obama wakes up, every day, trying to find ways to fuck me over?

    WTF is wrong with YOU?

  7. I am comfortable with Hagel. Very good choice. Would have voted for him as president when he tried to run. Plus one for Obama. Minus one for Obama’s attempt to reduce our ability to carry arms. No one mentions the fact that all the shooters were on psychiatric drugs, tho these drugs may well be the real and initiating cause behind all the killings in malls, theaters and schools. I think the shootings were maliciously staged to rid us of the right to bear arms. Spooky that the spooks want us to see it all as events that are so far from the truth.

My passive solar house extension or greenhouse is maintaining two year old chard and kale. Envy the tomatoes. Am going to buy chicks this spring, and must study about them prior to getting them, how to care for them, what chicks to get, and so on. Will either have a neighbor build the coop or simply purchase one already almost made. So ready to decentralize and move back to the farm. Farmland is the best investment you can make these days, if the USSC doesn’t do more eminent domaine issues, allowing the theft of land for the “public good” (spit, curse, vomit). Governments don’t act for the public good. Why should we?

  8. Actions speak far louder than words. Words lie. Actions seldom do.

    Yes, Obama is a liar.

When I think of Obama, I think of two phrases:
    Pathological Altruism
    And Viral memetic infection.

Of course, Bush was seriously into viral memtic infections. It is not only isolated to Obama. In fact, I am beginning to see it in place in so many areas of our living.
I must have some kind of immunity to these social viruses. All my life i have used intuition. I have always looked for the internal chime that indicates the truth in things I am told. research has indicated that 1- in 10 people immediately KNOW the truth or KNOW a lie when it is told. I believe that ratio is changing, so that more than one in ten people immediately know the truth or the lie when it is told.

Politicians lie. Obama is a politician. He is not god. He is not a savior any more than you or I am. He is extremely vulnerable to outside manipulation because he has a wife and children he deeply loves. He wants those loved ones to continue to live, so he does what he is told. Nice little puppet Obama has become, nice little impotent president, just like Bush was. Bush didn’t have that problem as much because you could tell by body language that he didn’t love his wife with any passion, that his daughters were not as loved as most children are. Losing them would not have been the ultimate threat for him. And that is the truth I sense.

You (hyp) can spout the party line or quote a piece of written thoughts. But that doesn’t mean I have to buy into it. We are headed for enslavement, if we are not there already, while still believing that we are free and have liberty and justice (no justice coming from Holder and Barker), and that we are able to pursue happiness. We have none of these.

If you want to influence the events in this world, if you want to see a better world, you must first imagine it, … and continue to imagine it. Our ultimate power is in our imaginations. Lennon knew it and someone killed him for telling it. I x V = R: Imagination time Vividness equals Reality. That is a direct quote from my favorite and Nazorene minister in a Presbyterian church, to a mostly sleeping congregation (but I was intently listening!). He knew I was Gnostic.

You are going to have to forge a new neuropathway to consider this fella, and probably you will have to create a new meme to talk about him:
Needless to say, he is no one to laugh at. Thomas Nagel.

I realize that you are NOT attacking me, Tim. While i am literally a true tea person, because I daily drink green, black and white teas, I am not a tea party person, nor do I routinely go to their sites. I heard once that the tea party is funded, perhaps orchestrated, by the Russian mafia. Stands to reason. Look what we did to them regarding Afghanistan. I simply do not affiliate anymore. I wish more people would not affiliate with a political ideology. Ultimately, I want to think on my own and expend the energy to construct and change my own thinking when I deem it necessary. I am not mentally lazy, with few and far-spaced neuropathways. I pretty sure you don’t think I am. I want my brain littered and cluttered with new ideas and old ideas and all those in between the two, for they are pieces of the grand puzzle. Sometimes those beloved neuro-pieces fit one another to create a true vision of reality. Enough of the “I’s”.

One more thing, if you want to find the truth on the issues, you will not find it in mainstream media very often. Some one or group has a need to control your perceptions. Will you allow this?
(no answer needed, just ask yourself.)

WHF is wrong with whom? i am not the “one-sided” here. You need to imagine the worst use of any technology and KNOW that is will be used in that manner.

Hey, maybe he will get rid of DARPA.

  9. “Obama is a liar.”

    Perhaps on occasion.

But I reject the premise that he lies 100% of the time implied by this inflammatory statement.

“Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive” is, like, ancient history, now.

Do you understand what it means?

It means that lies pile upon lies. It MEANS that sooner or later you’ll get caught in your lies.

    Where’s the “catch” of Obama?

“Obama is a politician. He is not god.”

My only comment on this, which I consider necessary given your statement that “I realize that you are NOT attacking me, Tim”, which sorta makes it personal, wouldn’t you agree?, is that you either don’t understand me, or you don’t understand what I say.

I do not believe that Obama is a God, nor do I believe that he is flawless.

I merely believe that he represents me FAR better than Mitt Romney or John McCain would have. I believe that he will appoint better cabinet members, better judges, and issue better executive orders than ANY Republican would issue.

You can say that he was “the lesser of two evils”, but those evils are REAL, and I believe that we’re MUCH better off with “this evil” than we’d have been otherwise. We have a veto of abortion rights, someone who stood strong and raised taxes on incomes above $400K/$450K. There’s no rubber stamp of cuts to SS and medicare. Obamacare won’t be repealed. The list goes on…

The following quotes indicate to me that you feel SUPERIOR to me. I do not agree that you are superior to me.

“I must have some kind of immunity to these social viruses.”

“You are going to have to forge a new neuropathway to consider this fella” (e.g. YOU have “forged a new neuropathway, while the rest of us have not.)

“if you want to find the truth”, spoken as the ONE person who understands “the truth”.

Do you have any idea how offensive this is? Seriously, seek the opinion of a professional. Someone who’s skilled in mental health issues. Show him/her this thread. Hell, show them ANY thread. I’m entirely comfortable with being judged (by him/her) from afar. I’m concerned by what I perceive as you having some sort of mental breakdown. Let’s let a QUALIFIED third party decide if either or both of us is tap-dancing on the edge of sanity.

Delusions of grandeur accompany paranoia, because why would they be out to get you if you weren’t important?

I’m not important. I’m hosting a backwater blog that gets a few hits a day because some old friends I met on the internet like to know that they have a place to stay in touch. Do you see any new members cropping up? I don’t. Jo is the exclusive exception of people who didn’t post on the original titty board, and we’ve “lost” quite a few. Timandcir, LFIC, Icy rarely stops by… (BTW, Jo, sorry for the call out, but it’s TRUE, and I’m glad you waste your time here.)

So, to add a comment on your other postings in this thread, any theories that “Obama knew” regarding the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary are not welcomed, by me. They’re not “banned”, because I just don’t do that (believing in the first amendment as much as I do), but I think they’re crazy.

Here’s what I think happened. A kid was facing some mental problems. His parents dealt with it by over-medicating him. Rich fucker Daddy moved out because he didn’t want to deal with it, and poor (but well-alimonied), Mommy was left to deal with the problem. Rich Daddy simply skated on to the next dumb floozy with big tits he ran across, leaving them in a well-financed but potentially deadly morasse. (Make sure to pass this theory onto your therapist.)

So, crazy kid, over-dosed on mind-altering substances, got it into his head that “I don’t have any fucking friends, but at least I can go out in a blaze of glory” and shot Mom in the head, then took her guns to a local school and shot the fuck out of about twenty 6 and 7 year olds.

    That makes me really angry.

What makes me angrier almost as angry also makes me angry is that people who wanted to ban guns the day before the Sandy Hook Massacre are standing on the dead bodies of children to demand what they wanted the day before.

It’s like standing on the bodies buried in the World Tower attacks to launch a war against Iraq. I really can’t see a difference, ideologicially.

If the conclusion is “we need to stop this from happening, again”, I agree.

I disagree with the “liberal” ideas being floated. Banning any and all guns isn’t going to work (and no gun bans will pass, anyway). There are MILLIONS of guns loose in this country. They WON’T all be turned in. (I won’t turn in mine. Hell, I’ll sell ’em on the black market at an INCREDIBLE profit before I’ll hand ’em over for a net $5,000 loss.) Ban large cap magazines? Good idea, but there are probably 6 or 7 million of them around. I’ll buy one from my neighbor if I need one. Besides, they’re a box with a spring; I can make one.

I could go on, but my point is liberals are really missing the point on this one.

Semi-automatic weapons have been around since 1906 (or so).

I have LOTS of suggestions for how to actually approach this problem of mass killings, but I’m going to mention this one; putting on body armor to attach a classroom full of 6 and 7 year olds is the most cowardly thing I’ve witnessed in my 55 years on this earth.

Maybe we could start by stopping these monsters from thinking that they’ll have ANY power after the do their murderous crimes, that they’re NOT “going out in a blaze of glory’ before they kill themselves, by referring to them as the cowards they are.

Just a thought, but even crazy people don’t want us all to end up mocking them for their actions.

The power of language on human thought is proven.

  10. I don’t think it really matters who is the best man for the Oval Office. They all eventually become puppets.

I am not at all sure the threats we are fed are all that real. Just heard someone talk about a Democratic Party official that teaches that there must always be a crisis in this country, so that The People are kept off balance and living in fear of imminent threats. Just sit back and watch them instill the fear and the imaginary threats. It is so fun to see them scramble to keep The People under their control. LOL. likfe the fiscal “Cliff”, which I would like to seen them all fall off of. Like the unfounded, unproved anthropogenic climate change theory. LOL. Oh that is so funny. Meanwhile, …:

How Solar Activity Affects Our Planet
In the galactic scheme of things, the Sun is a remarkably constant star. While some stars exhibit dramatic pulsations, wildly yo-yoing in size and brightness, and sometimes even exploding, the luminosity of our own sun varies a measly 0.1% over the course of the 11-year solar cycle.

Recent Starbursts Discovered Near The Milky Way’s Galactic Center
Using the airborne telescope on the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy, astronomers have learned that a series of recent starbursts had taken place in the central region of the Milky Way.

And the loyalist democrats just eat the falsehoods right up. Sit back and watch that too. LOL.

Not saying that the GOP doesn’t do this too, for we KNOW they do.

Just sit back and watch them scramble.
Poop on their strange and fear-mongering theories.

I am in agreement with your gun thing. The question becomes whether they are willing to kill to further the anti-gun agenda.

While they are trying to limit our ability to bear arms, a most hallowed right that prevails in this country, they do not address what is causing all the violence.

Professor Healy, a very highly respected British psychiatrist describes three symptoms (“the psychotropic suicidogenic triumvirate”) which indicate an impending suicide (in this case, murder) caused by psychiatric medication. The three symptoms are:

    (1) akathisia – feeling numb as if nothing matters, restlessness, turmoil, and feeling one is going mad,

    (2) emotional blunting – “I cannot feel anything, do not care”

    (3) psychotic decompensation – losing touch with reality.

My take on this is to never go to a counselor, or psychologist, or psychiatrist. Never take psychiatric meds. Just read Jung (not about him but his own writings) and be brave and willing to face anything about yourself,… when it pops into your head. Doing one’s own healing gives one such a sense of freedom and self-love. And gawd-dammit, take your multi-Vits and minerals.

What you have to do is take a stand, all of us en mass, take a stand and refuse the wooden-spoon-fed memes.

  11. 2011 USA = 1935 Germany

“Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it,”

We live with a president who has ALREADY killed Americans. this is not longer about “Is he willing to kill Americans?” He already has. It is a certainty that he will do it again.

And this is a must read. After reading, observe how meme complexes act in US politics:
Just a few notes on this:

Loss of autonomy, unable to question the doctrine

“We must understand how these memeplex builders were able to gain the power they did.  Without understanding the psychological structure of the memeplexes these historical figures built, history will be repeated. “ Diane Benscoter,

“We cannot predict the direction the next big memeplex will take, but we can know that vulnerable people, mostly young people, will be willing to give their lives for the next (power) addict who is able to harness similar psychological components, which when combined, hold the power to control the decision making processes of its victims.”
Diane Benscoter, See her. Listen to her. And see how Democrats are using these tactics to get you to blindly follow their memeplexes. Don’t get me wrong, the GOP does it too. Better to stand IN the aisle where you can and will think for yourself.

These headlines piss me off, Holder has to go! He is a criminal!:

DOJ: We can force you to decrypt that laptop

The U.S. Justice Department is seeking court order that would require defendant in Colorado mortgage scam case to disclose her passphrase or decrypt the files.

The U.S. Government Wants Your Password
According to industry sources the U.S. government, on top of everything else, has made a habit of asking internet companies to divulge users’ passwords. CNET got this from “industry sources familiar with these orders,” and it’s not clear how widespread the practice is, but of the companies asked for comment, all that replied (Apple, Yahoo, Facebook, AOL, Verizon, AT&T, Time Warner, and Comcast did not) insisted they have never, and would not, hand over user passwords. Fortunately for users, any company worth its salt that stores passwords encrypts them first (although you shouldn’t assume they do, some of the web’s largest companies have shockingly bad security practices, which means the most a company could hand over is the encrypted version of a password and the algorithm used to encrypt it. In theory this should be difficult to decode, but it’s not impossible, and the NSA has a lot of computing power to throw at problems like this (you can read the article for more detailed information about this). Legally, it’s not clear whether the NSA or anybody else has the authority to demand passwords. The Justice Department has argued it has the authority to obtain passwords before, but that was in criminal proceedings.

    Declan McCullagh / CNET:
Justice Department tries to force Google to hand over user data — Secret lawsuit in Manhattan filed last month asks judge to force Google to cough up user data without a search warrant. A different court has already ruled that the process is unconstitutional.

    Declan McCullagh / CNET:
Judge orders Google to comply with FBI’s secret NSL demands — San Francisco federal judge tells Mountain View company to comply with FBI’s warrantless National Security Letter requests for user details, despite ongoing concerns about law’s constitutionality.

I will never ever ever ever vote for a Harvard/Yale grad again, never ever, never ever again.

The Present governments pathological altruism is no longer altruistic. It is only pathological.

The way I see it, there are only two parties in this country:
Whose who love the US Constitution and the US Bill of Rights
And those who hate the US Constitution and the US Bill of Rights.
