How the Grinch Stole Democracy
Each year there is a secret meeting of several hundred power
brokers who come from the nations that belong to NATO. While the annual location
of the meeting is different, their agenda is the same. They will discuss how
best to further Western capitalism and their interests. Adopting their name from
their first meeting place, the Bilderburg Group is funded by the Rockefellers.
They control the world economy and are among those who are commonly referred to
as "the powers that be". In 1991, they met in Evian, France. Despite strict
security, a reporter managed to tape a statement by Henry Kissinger as he
addressed the group.
Mr. Kissinger said, "Today Americans would be outraged if U.N. troops entered
Los Angeles to restore order; tomorrow they will be grateful! This is especially
true if they were told there was an outside threat from beyond, whether real or
promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then that all peoples of
the world will pledge with world leaders to deliver them from this evil. The one
thing every man fears is the "Unknown". When presented with this scenario,
individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well
being granted to them by their world government."
Judging by how quickly Americans accepted the Patriot Act, which in effect
abolished half of the rights guaranteed by the Bill of Rights after 9-11, old
Henry certainly knew what he was talking about. How has his prophesy been
brought about?
The Soviet Union collapsed in 1990 and Congress wanted to see military budget
cuts as the "peace benefit" after the end of the Cold War. The administration of
the first George Bush, with Dick Cheney as Secretary of Defense, Colin Powell as
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Paul Wolfowitz as undersecretary of
Defense, were resistant to any cuts. They felt that with the Soviet Union
dissolved, America was the world's only remaining superpower, and they wanted to
retain that position to ensure that the changing world emerged in accordance
with American interests. With this in mind they devised "the Plan", outlined in
a paper called "Defense Planning Guidance of 1992". It proposed preventing any
attempts to rival our role as the sole superpower, keeping any nation from
dominating a strategic region, American global dominance, pre-emptive strikes,
unilateral action, and use of overwhelming force, so as to "shock and awe" the
opponent. Before it could be officially adopted and enacted, the election of
1992 found a new president, Bill Clinton entering the White House, and "the
Plan" and its proponents were, temporarily, put aside.
Paul Wolfowitz went to college at the University of Chicago. While there he came
under the influence of a philosophy professor named Leo Strauss. Strauss had
immigrated to the United States from Germany in 1938. He believed democracy was
a very weak form of government. Instead, he felt that only the superior elite
were fit to rule the inferior masses. Deceit by the rulers was necessary because
the masses had to be led with firmness and told only that which would guarantee
their support of the agenda. He felt the founding fathers made a mistake in
separating church and state. Religion was necessary for maintaining morality and
law among the masses. He also believed in perpetual war, since peace broke down
military discipline and led to decadence. Religion also served as a tool to
encourage troops to sacrifice their lives with a promise of eternal reward.
Personal freedoms were something to be avoided since they encouraged independent
thought, individualism and liberalism which would lead to dissent. Strauss
taught that unity was essential to a stable society, but men could only unite
with other men against a common outside enemy. If none existed, then one had to
be invented. Those theories became the foundation of the Neocon movement which
eventually became a force within the Republican party.
In 1997 a Neocon think tank was established called Project For A New American
Century (PNAC). Among the charter members who signed its Statement of Principles
were Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, Donald Rumsfeld, I. Lewis Libby, Elliot
Abrams, Jeb Bush, Steve Forbes, Zalmay Khalilzad, William Bennet, and other
senior officials, advisors and friends of this administration.
In Sept. 2000, the PNAC published a paper called "Rebuilding America's
Defenses". This was an elaboration of the same principles and policies
formulated in the "Defense Planning Guidance". That paper was rejected by both
parties in 1992 when a draft was leaked to the N.Y. Times. Could Junior sell it?
"The Plan" had a new name, the Neocons had more clout with the backing of the
GOP, and the same cast of characters were reassembled from the Bush 41
administration. With them behind the folksy character of George "Duby" as the
front man, they managed to make it into the White House by a circuitous route
despite a hotly contested election that had overtones of fraud.
"Rebuilding America's Defenses" has 4 "missions". The third mission states,
"The
United States has for decades sought to play a more permanent role in Gulf
regional security. While the unresolved conflict with Iraq provides the
immediate justification, the need for a substantial American force presence in
the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein." It also states a
tenet of Leo Strauss' philosophy, "...the process of transformation, even if
it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some
catastrophic and catalyzing event--like a new Pearl Harbor."
Our new Pearl Harbor came on September 11, 2001. We are told it was an attack
planned by an Arab Muslim fundamentalist named Osama binLadin and his followers,
who had been involved in other acts of terror. Just as Leo Strauss predicted,
with a common outside enemy, America was united as one against them.
When the Patriot Act was passed, just as Henry Kissinger predicted, the people
willingly relinquished our precious rights and freedoms which had been secured
for us with the blood of patriots. It’s ironic that what was won by patriots
was lost through an act bearing the same name.
We embarked on a "War on Terror", and using the catastrophic and catalyzing
event of 9-11 we attacked Afghanistan to seek out our common outside enemy,
Osama binLaden. At least that's what we were told. However, three months before
9-11, an article dated June 26, 2001 in Newsinsight revealed: "India and Iran will "facilitate" US and Russian plans for
"limited military action" against the Taliban if the contemplated tough new
economic sanctions don't bend Afghanistan's fundamentalist regime.
Diplomats say that the anti-Taliban move followed a meeting between US Secretary
of State Colin Powel and Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov and later between
Powell and Indian foreign minister Jaswant Singh in Washington. Russia, Iran and
India have also held a series of discussions and more diplomatic activity is
expected."
When the Taliban was toppled, a US puppet, Hamid Karzai was installed and
despite not having captured binLaden, George Bush switched to the next Neocon
mission of providing the substantial American force presence in the Gulf. Our
War on Terror now moved to Iraq, although that country had nothing to do with
the terrorist attack on 9-11 or the group associated with it. Our support for
the Iraq invasion was manipulated by fear with fabricated reports of WMD that
posed an immediate threat, giving us a new common outside enemy. We followed
"the Plan" with a pre-emptive strike and used the shock and awe of overwhelming
force.
We have followed the script first laid out in the "Defense Planning Guidance"
using the philosophy promoted by Leo Strauss and his Neocon followers word for
word. If we continue following the script and bring about the other changes
called for in the Neocon papers we will facilitate bringing about the New World
Order and an end to that 228 year experiment in self government. To change that
direction we must remove the current administration from power. Keeping the
status quo is how the Grinch will steal Democracy.
