Murder and Mayhem For Fun and Profit
 

What do you get when you cross 100 highly trained special forces and $100 million a year budget? Answer: P2OG. Still confused? Allow me to elaborate and turn your confusion into revulsion at what this administration plans.

In August of 2002, the Defense Science Board, a group that advises the Pentagon, gave a PowerPoint presentation that outlined a new department for Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld. The new group, Proactive, Pre-emptive Operations Group, or P2OG, will perform much like the fictional "Mission Impossible" force, using cover and deception, military covert action and information warfare to provoke terrorists to attack Americans, thereby enabling a quick US military counterattack against "states and sub-state actors" who harbor them, that would have public support. This must have Rumsfeld rubbing his hands together as he gleefully contemplates his new role as commander of this elite secret force whose role will be to speed up American imperialism. It will give him more opportunities to try and buy the newest technology in US WMD. Any Americans killed by the terrorist attacks, in an effort to make Americans secure from terrorist attacks will be considered, I presume, collateral damage. That goes a long way in explaining why the term military intelligence is considered an oxymoron. It also gives a lot more credence to Secretary Rumsfeld's warning that there will be more terrorist attacks against Americans and civilization at large, since he's the one who will be inciting them.

Those who think the plan is far-fetched and something our government would never conceive, obviously are not familiar with Operation Northwoods. This was another Pentagon plan presented to President Kennedy in 1963, to kill Americans, blow up planes, bomb, and commit other acts of terror against US citizens, which would be blamed on Cubans, as justification to invade Cuba and remove Castro. Castro had been a target ever since he seized power and took over the Mafia/Corporate resorts that were going to be the American Riviera for the rich and famous and represented a considerable investment and large future cash flow that was now lost. Kennedy rejected the plan and was killed a few months later. Rumsfeld's new Operation Northwoods, in P2OG, is far more dangerous than the 1963 version. Forty years has seen an explosion of technology that has made wholesale killing a simple matter and the US has no global rival to suppress whatever actions it decides to take. By running the operation through the Pentagon, and expanding its covert capabilities, it would bypass having to report its actions to Congress, since the Pentagon is not bound by rules necessitating Congressional oversight of covert activities.

The implication here, with even the consideration of such a diabolical, secret force, let alone it's formation, is that America's leaders are consciously and willfully taking us down a dark path where murder and mayhem are premeditated policies and considered normal and moral. We have taken that step across the line that divides civilized societies from the basest barbarians to whom human life is meaningless and without value. Ironically, this is the same group that places so much value on an embryo that they want to abolish abortion. Only when it leaves the womb apparently does their concern cease.

This administration has consideration for only the amassing of wealth for that small group of their elite cohorts and the retention of power to enable it to continue. With P2OG, they have shown that there is no low to which they will not stoop. Greed mixed with power is a lethal combination that produces the ultimate in evil. America, as the world's most powerful nation is now the world's most dangerous terrorist organization and we will all be its victims eventually. Our complacency and apathy has allowed it to strip away our rights even to oppose it.

If we want to find a ray of hope for the future it is that every empire throughout history has eventually fallen. Attempting to impose one's will on others won't succeed because it is inherently wrong. The American Empire will be no exception. Even now, our military expenditures are crippling our economy and we have just begun. Emperor George's reign will be relatively short-lived. Soon our ability to borrow will be curbed as the world finally decides our policies are a global threat and we won't be able to maintain the cost of the empire. His greed and quest for unbridled power will consume him just as the greedy serpent who attacks its tail consumes itself.

So, as we mourn our dead fellow Americans, sacrificed to terrorists provoked by the Bush administration while we wait for history to repeat and the empire to collapse, we must continue to keep democracy on life support. Freedom is too precious to let die. Next time we'll know it must be protected with more vigilance from those who would subvert it for their own selfish ends.
