Truth or Treason?

There are now calls for independent investigations into who knew what when in regards to 9-11 and another into the fact that WMD was used as an excuse to invade Iraq, and it now appears there weren't any.

There seems to be some opposition to these investigations taking place among the ranks of supporters of this administration and some Republicans in Congress. The resistance begs the question of "why"?

The attacks on the US on 9-11 is the biggest attack on American soil and should be the subject of the biggest investigation. Every American should be demanding this. The media should be demanding it. How can we attempt to protect against another attack if we don't know how we failed to protect against the first? Osama binLaden has been blamed, yet he publicly has denied any connection to it. Terrorism, by its very nature is an act to call attention to some perceived wrong. If it was Osama, it would make no sense for him to deny it instead of making his demands or voicing his grievances. Shouldn't that be investigated? There are too many unanswered questions, too many discrepancies, too much that doesn't add up for us to just accept it without looking into every detail under a microscope of outside expert testimony.

The intelligence community has been blamed for presenting "bad" intelligence, yet nothing has been mentioned about the fact that since August of 1995, we have had the testimony of the director of Iraq's weapons programs, his son-in-law, Hussein Kamel, when he defected to Jordan. He was interviewed by the CIA, UNSCOM, IAEA and British intelligence agents, amid boxes of documents he brought with him. He stated the biological and chemical weapons were destroyed after the Gulf War as well as the missiles to deliver them. We have also not heard anything about investigating the Office of Special Plans (OSP). This was a group of Republican civilians set up in the Pentagon by Donald Rumsfeld to deliver bits and pieces of information that would support the premise of Iraq's having WMD without the analysis and verification performed by professional intelligence agencies. This was done when the CIA was unable to find any absolute "proof" of Iraq's weapons. Much of the information from the OSP came from exiled Iraqis who had their own agenda. Did the administration know this was contrived evidence?

If supporters believe the president is innocent they should welcome a complete independent investigation to prove it to those who doubt. In fact, they should be the first to demand it. With more accusations being made against other countries it is imperative that the world have confidence in our intelligence that is the basis for these accusations. We cannot afford another unilateral confrontation.

If they are resisting investigations because they are afraid that close scrutiny may reveal some complicity, how can they, as Americans, not want this uncovered for the sake and safety of our country. If there are any who are resisting the truth it can only mean they are involved in a horrendous scheme against humanity or its cover-up. It would be treason.

To paraphrase an administration's line, "You're either for independent investigations, or you're for treason."
